The road narrows, then it stops. Saber Valley Estate sits behind a gate at the end of a private paved road in Valley Center, on five acres fenced from the drive to the orchard.

Inside, the great room opens under a sixteen-foot vaulted ceiling carried on exposed wood beams, and the gourmet chef’s kitchen opens straight into it. Outside, the deck steps down to a heated saltwater pool with an infinity edge that spills toward the mountains, a spa, and breathtaking valley views past the edge.

The land is the part guests do not expect. Organic fruit trees, walking trails, picnic tables, and a few places to sit that were clearly chosen by somebody who sits in them.

Then there is the weather. The property catches ocean breezes in the evening and holds its sun on the mornings when the coast is buried in fog, which is most of May and much of June. Forty-five minutes from downtown San Diego, and a different climate.

Availability

4 nights is the shortest stay

Tell Tom the nights you want and he will tell you what is open and what it costs. He answers himself, and booking this way costs you less than any listing site, because there is no service fee on top.

The estate is also listed on Vrbo, which is worth a look if you want to browse a calendar first. Booking there adds their guest service fee, so if you already know your dates, call or text Tom.
